IMPROVING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENT’S VOCABULARY SKILL WITH SNAKE AND LADDER GAMES




a.        Background
Teachers teaching methods that are less precise will affect student learning outcomes. Lack of good methods of teaching will make students less motivated to learn. With varying With varying methods or by appropriate methods, efficient and effective, will make the students can learn well and affect the learning achievement of students. On of them is games method. Especially snake and ladder games.
Snake and ladder games also could be applied in English lesson for student. Especially student’s vocabular ability. With games, the student will chalenged to study and have a fun learning process. So, the student will more motivated to join and produce good result in teaching.

b.        Implementation
Teacher provides the game prawn. Under the column or number box the teacher fill it with  picture of animal, goods, or figure. Game was began from the smallest student absent number. What’s number shown by dice is how much student step on the prawn. The student must answer what picture’s under column. If wrong the student receive a penalty from teacher, if right the student get point and apllause. Next step was continued by larger absent number. There are two role again. If the student’s pass the ladder and fall to snake, there is special chalenged given by the teacher like sing a song, etc. With the games, the student will more exciting with English Lesson cause not boring and fun.

c.         Output
Fun games learning method like Snake and Ladder Games are alternative varying learning method that more effective than conventional learning method (lecture method) cause Elementary School’s student are still child and fun playing so Fun Games method will be give more motivating student come to school and studying. Games will gave different impression to student when study. Cause the real studying process must educate and pleasure. So snake and ladder games can improve the student’s vocabulary skill and affect to English Lesson learning outcomes.
